I am also a student member of Institute of Marine engineers, India, Vizag Chapter and attended number of seminars held on the subject of marine engineering. In addition I have participated in athletics and have been awarded with trophies.
With a background from the family of „bouta puas(ancient oriya seamen)” i wish to do my ancestors proud. I want to be in row with my other family member who have served in the maritime heritage at the post of master mariners and chief engineer (Diesel/Steam engine). I therefore request you to consider my candidature favorable for the post of Junior Engineer/trainee marine engineer/5th engineer in your esteemed organization so that I could complete my propelling hours and sincerely hope to get a positive response. I was informed about your prestigious Company’s tremendous offer to provide Cadets with the necessary seatime, by the Head of Maritime Operations ( Mr. Tony Dumbell ) and I will like to know if it is possible for your Company to sponsor me? This is simply because, I was on private sponsorship by my elder Brother who struggled to pay my Tuition/Accommodation fees, but now he doesn’t have any means of continuing the sponsorship for my 2nd and 3rd years at Liverpool. Though I still have every intention to complete my studies.
I have written to more than a dozen Companies in the UK but they all turned me down on the basis of my Nationality.I also wrote to a Company in my Country which reputedly sponsors Students but was told that recruitment has closed until further notice.Which means that I won’t be able to obtain the required seatime for the Officer of the Watch (OOW) Certificate and the NVQs 2 and 3 at the end of my first year here.
Already, I have completed the STCW ‘ 95 Four mandatory short courses and I have a valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate.
Please, I will really appreciate it if my humble request is favourably considered.
Looking forward to your soonest reply.
